Zodiac - Great Platonic Year - Last update Mar 3, 2017

Zodiac comes from a Greek word meaning "the circle of animals" or a "circle of lives".

Yellow Brick Road
In China the Zodiac is called the Yellow Road, and the Sun is called the Emperor of the Yellow Road. I think about Dorothy' quest for courage, wisdom and love and the yellow brick road she had to travel to find out she had those qualities inside her the whole time. Brick representing the material world.

Each year the sun passes entirely around the zodiac and returns to the point from which it started--the vernal equinox--and each year it falls just a little short of making the complete circle of the heavens in the allotted period of time. As a result, it crosses the equator just a little behind the spot in the zodiacal sign where it crossed the previous year. Each sign of the zodiac consists of thirty degrees, and as the sun loses about one degree every seventy two years, it regresses through one entire constellation (or sign) in approximately 2,160 years, and through the entire zodiac in about 25,920 years. (Authorities disagree concerning these figures.) This retrograde motion is called the precession of the equinoxes. This means that in the course of about 25,920 years, which constitute one Great Solar or Platonic Year, each one of the twelve constellations occupies a position at the vernal equinox for nearly 2,160 years, then gives place to the previous sign.

Zodiac (Or.). From the word zodion, a diminutive of zoon, animal. This word is used in a dual meaning; it may refer to the fixed and intellectual Zodiac, or to the movable and natural Zodiac.

"In astronomy", says Science, "it is an imaginary belt in the heavens 16° or 18° broad, through the middle of which passes the sun's path (the ecliptic)." It contains the twelve con.stellations which constitute the twelve signs of the Zodiac, and from which they are named. As the nature of the zodiacal light —that elongated, luminous, triangular figure which, lying almost in the ecliptic, with its base on the horizon and its apex at greater and smaller altitudes, is to be seen only during the morning and evening twilight—is entirely unknown to science the origin and real significance and occult meaning of the Zodiac were, and are still, a mystery, to all save the Initiates.

The latter preserved their secrets well. Between the Chaldean star-gazer and the modern astrologer there lies to this day a wide gulf indeed; and they wander, in the words of Alhumazar. " 'twixt the poles, and heavenly hinges, 'mongst eccentricals, centres, concentricks, circles and epicycles", with vain pretence to more than profane human skill. Yet, some of the astrologers, from Tycho Brah and Kepler of astrological memory, down to the modern Zadkiels and Raphaels, have contrived to make a wonderful science from such scanty occult materials as they have had in hand from Ptolemy downwards. (See "Astrology".)

To return to the astrological Zodiac proper, however, it is an imaginary circle passing round the earth in the plane of the equator, its first point being called Aries 0°. It is divided into twelve equal parts called "Signs of the Zodiac", each containing 30° of space, and on it is measured the right ascension of celestial bodies. The movable or natural Zodiac is a succession of constellations forming a belt of 47° in width, lying north and south of the plane of the ecliptic.

The precession of the Equinoxes is caused by the "motion" of the sun through space, which makes the constellations appear to move forward against the order of the signs at the rate of 50 1/3 seconds per year. A simple calculation will show that at this rate the constellation Taurus (Hcb. Aleph) was in the first sign of the Zodiac at the beginning of the Kali Yuga, and consequently the Equinoctial point fell therein. At this time, also, Leo was in the summer solstice, Scorpio in the autumnal Equinox, and Aquarius was in the winter solstice; and these facts form the astronomical key to half the religious mysteries of the world—the Christian scheme included.

The Zodiac was known in India and Egypt for incalculable ages, and the knowledge of the sages (magi) of these countries, with regard to the occult influence of the stars and heavenly bodies on our earth, was far greater than profane astronomy can ever hope to reach to. If, even now, when most of the secrets of the Asuramayas and the Zoroasters are lost, it is still amply shown that horoscopes and judiciary astrology are far from being based on fiction, and if such men as Kepler and even Sir Isaac Newton believed that stars and constellations influenced the destiny of our globe and its humanities, it requires no great stretch of faith to believe that men who were initiated into all the mysteries of nature, as well as into astronomy and astrology, knew precisely in what way nations and mankind, whole races as well as individuals would be affected by the so-called "signs of the Zodiac".

The Sidereal Prophecies of the Zodiac

The sidereal prophecies of the Zodiac never point to any one particular event, however solemn and sacred it may be for some one portion of humanity. Why, asks The Secret Doctrine, see in Pisces (sign of the Fish) a direct reference to Christ – one of the several world-reformers, when that constellation shines as a symbol of all past, present and future Spiritual Saviours who dispense light and dispel mental darkness? All such prophecies point to ever-recurring periodical laws in nature, understood but by the Initiate. “The Zodiac is the type of the Great Law.” Twelve Great Gods, as in Egypt, or twelve Orders of Being as in the Himalayan teaching, manifest the complete turning of the great Wheel of Life and the Law, embracing all the subjective and objective planes and all the states. As applied to our globe, of the twelve transformations, the earth after each one of its first six is grosser, and everything on it – man included – more material, than after the preceding one, while after each of the remaining six the contrary is true, both earth and man growing more and more refined and spiritual with each terrestrial change. When the apex of the cycle is reached, a gradual dissolution takes place, and every living and objective form is destroyed. But when that point is reached, humanity, animals, plants and every atom have become fitted to live subjectively as well as objectively.

Thus proceed the cycles of septenary evolution, the Septennial nature: the Spiritual and divine; the psychic or semi-divine; the intellectual, the passional, the instinctual; the semi-corporeal, and the purely material or physical nature. All these evolve and progress cyclically, passing from one into another, in a double centrifugal and centripetal way, one in their ultimate essence, seven in their aspects. Every principle of man’s sevenfold nature is correlated to a plane, a planet and a race; these can, each one, become beneficent and powerful forces for man.

The symbology of the Zodiac is not primarily religious, not primarily astronomical, nor even astrological. The key to the mysteries of the Zodiac has to be turned seven times. In every smallest event of life is an occult significance having a sevenfold root, whether human or cosmic. The knowledge of determining, in each event, this occult aspect, belonged at all times to adepts. Man is himself a zodiacal highway, through which his own particular sun, the Atman, makes a circuit. As our acquaintance, through devotion and endeavor, with the journey of our own sun through our own human zodiac grows better, we will learn the meaning of the greater pilgrimage of the earthly luminary.

The Cycles, The Mysteries, The Pyramid

Mr. Staniland Wake justly observes in his work on “The Origin and Significance of the Great Pyramid” (London, 1882): “They must, however, have been more than mere coincidences, if the builders of the Pyramid had the astronomical knowledge displayed in its perfect orientation and in its other admitted astronomical features.” They had it; and it is on this “knowledge” that the programme of the MYSTERIES and of the series of Initiations was based: thence, the construction of the Pyramids, the everlasting record and the indestructible symbol of these Mysteries and Initiations on Earth, as the courses of the stars are in Heaven.

The cycle of Initiation was a reproduction in miniature of that great series of Cosmic changes to which astronomers have given the name of tropical or sidereal year. Just as, at the close of the cycle of the sidereal year [25,868 years], the heavenly bodies return to the same relative positions as they occupied at its outset, so at the close of the cycle of Initiation the inner man has regained the pristine state of divine purity and knowledge from which he set out on his cycle of terrestrial incarnation.

Moses, an Initiate into the Egyptian Mystagogy, based the religious mysteries of the new nation which he created, upon the same abstract formula derived from this sidereal cycle, which he symbolised under the form and measurements of the tabernacle, that he is supposed to have constructed in the wilderness. On these data, the later Jewish High Priests constructed the allegory of Solomon’s Temple — a building which never had a real existence, any more than had King Solomon himself, who is simply, and as much a solar myth as is the still later Hiram Abif, of the Masons, as Ragon has well demonstrated. Thus, if the measurements of this allegorical temple, the symbol of the cycle of Initiation, coincide with those of the Great Pyramid, it is due to the fact that the former were derived from the latter through the Tabernacle of Moses.

Man is Himself a Zodiac - the great system of which we are a duplicate.

And so of the Zodiac. As our acquaintance, through devotion and endeavour, with the journey of our own sun through our own human zodiac grows better, we will learn the meaning of the great pilgrimage of the earthly luminary. For it is impossible in this study to learn a little of ourselves without knowing more of the great system of which we are a copy. HPB

For Atman is the sun,
The moon also it is;
And the whole collection of stars
Is contained within it

Atman is a Sanskrit word that means inner self or soul. In Hindu philosophy, especially in the Vedanta school of Hinduism, Atman is the first principle, the true self of an individual beyond identification with phenomena, the essence of an individual.

"The Bhagavad-Gita and the Zodiac, while differing so much from each other in that the one is a book and the other the sun"s path in the heavens, are two great storehouses of knowledge which may be construed after the same method.

They would not apply it as it is found used in old and new almanacs to the individual human being, for they do not know that it can in any way be so connected, since their system hardly admits any actual sympathy between man and the Zodiac, not yet having come to know that man is himself a zodiacal highway through which his own particular sun makes a circuit.

Considering how laughable in the eyes of the highly-educated scientific person of today the singular figures and arrangement of the Zodiac are, it is strange that they have not long ago abolished it all. But they seem unable to do so. For some mysterious reason the almanacs still contain the old signs, and the moon's periods continue to be referred to these ancient figures. Indeed, modern astronomers still use the old symbology, and give to each new asteroid a symbol precisely in line with the ancient zodiacal marks so familiar to us. They could not abolish them, were the effort to be made.

The student of the Bhagavad-Gita soon begins to feel that there is somewhere a key to the poem, something that will open up clearly the vague thoughts of greater meanings which constantly rise in his mind. After a while he is able to see that in a philosophical and devotional sense the verses are full of meaning, but under it all there runs a deep suggestiveness of some other and grander sweep for its words. This is what the lost key will reveal.

But who has that key or where it is hidden is not yet revealed, for it is said by those who know the Brotherhood that man is not yet in the mass ready for the full explanation to be put into his hands. For the present it is enough for the student to study the path to devotion, which, when found, will lead to that belonging to knowledge.

And so of the Zodiac. As our acquaintance, through devotion and endeavor, with the journey of our own sun through our own human zodiac grows better, we will learn the meaning of the great pilgrimage of the earthly luminary. For it is impossible in this study to learn a little of ourselves without knowing more of the great system of which we are a copy."

"The Tarot contains indeed the mystery of all such transmutations of personages into sidereal bodies and vice versa. The “Wheel of Enoch” is an archaic invention, the most ancient of all, for it is found in China. Eliphas Levi says there was not a nation but had it, its real meaning being preserved in the greatest secrecy. It is a universal heirloom" - Helena Blavatsky

In Christian Scripture the perfected state of consciousness is alluded to in the Book of Ezekiel as the “fourfold vision of God."

"The study of astrology really gives us a cosmic view of ourselves in "the whole manifestation". When studying astrology, you see that this personality with all its tendencies, talents, and things that will be at issue in this lifetime, are formed at the moment and place of birth of this entity, that in turn being influenced by vibrational attraction to manifestation of the oversoul. Our natal chart is an overview of our identity for this lifetime in our long passage from one lifetime to another."

Pisces

The whole heavens is the ultimate or "overall" pattern in the concept of "cosmic order". Cosmic order relates to the Hermes Trismegistus' axiom "as above, so below"; the harmony between the heavens and the earth, the earthly order corresponding to the cosmic order. The heavens is understood to be the macrocosm, and man the microcosm; and hence according to Paracelsus the structure of the human body itself is the structure of the entire universe.

Man, the human being, the highest evolved product of the microcosm, is seen as the synthesis of all nature; animals, birds and each living thing emphasizing some unique or exaggerated feature that symbolically represents some function of the human condition, and some part of the human body.

And all the signs through which Night whirls her car,
From belted Orion back to Orion and his dauntless Hound,
And all Poseidon's, all high Zeus's stars,

"Were all religions and all scriptures of the world to be lost, and were there nothing left to us except the starry heavens, the story of the zodiac and the significance of the names of the various stars found in the different constellations, we should be able to retrace the history of man, recover the knowledge of our goal and learn the mode of its achievement" — Djwhal Khul

Evolution As Shown in the Zodiac

It is a matter of common knowledge among mystics that the evolutionary career of mankind is indissolubly bound up with the divine hierarchies who rule the planets and the signs of the Zodiac, and that passage of the Sun and the planets through the twelve signs of the Zodiac, marks man's progress in time and in space. Therefore it is not to be wondered at, that in the course of their investigations into the spiritual development of mankind, the writers have also encountered much that deals with the Zodiac which is the boundary of our evolutionary sphere at the present time.

This visible Sun, however, though it is a place of evolution for beings vastly above man, is not by any means, the Father of other planets, as material science supposes. On the contrary, it is itself an emanation from the central Sun, which is the invisible source of all that IS in our solar system."

"Our visible Sun is but the mirror in which are reflected the Rays of energy from the Spiritual Sun, the real Sun is as invisible as the real man."

From this teaching it is apparent that the great spiritual hierarchies which are now guiding our evolution, have had their training for this path in previous schemes of manifestation, also that what they are now doing, we shall some day do for others. Already the foremost among our race are treading the path of initiation, and have thereby advanced into stages, far beyond the general status of our present humanity. It has been learned that those who have gone through the Mercurial School of the lesser Mysteries, and have graduated from the School of the Greater Mysteries are now preparing human evolution for the Jupiter Period.

Thus the Zodiac and the planets are as a book in which we may read the history of Humanity during past ages, and they also give a key to the future which is in store for us. In the famous Zodiac in the Temple of Denderah, Cancer is not pictured as we have it in modern days. There it is a beetle, a scarab. This was the emblem of the soul, and Cancer has always been known in ancient times, as well as among modern mystics, to be the sphere of the soul, the gate of life in the Zodiac whence the spirits coming into rebirth, enter our sub-lunary conditions. It is therefore aptly ruled by the Moon which is the planet of fecundation (creation by the physical union of male and female gametes), and it is noteworthy that we find Capricorn, which is its opposite, ruled by Saturn the Planet of Death and Chaos, who is mystically depicted as "the reaper with his scythe and hour glass in hand." These two opposite signs are therefore turning points in the soul's career. Cancer and Capricorn respectively mark the highest ascent of the Sun into the Northern Hemisphere, and its lowest descent into the South. We observe that during the summer when the Sun is in the sphere of Cancer and allied signs, fecundation and growth are the order of the day. But when the Sun is in the South, in Capricorn, we have winter, when nature is dead. The fruits of the summer are then consumed and assimilated by us. As a circle dance of the Sun among the twelve signs determines the seasons of the year when direct, causing the germination of myriads of seeds cast in the earth, also the mating of the fauna, which then makes the world alive with the sights and sounds of manifested life, and at another time leaves the world dumb, dull and drear in winter's gloom, under the sway of Saturn, so by the slower backward movement, known as the Precession of the Equinox, does it produce the great changes which we know as Evolution. In fact, this precessional measure of the sun marks the birth and death of races, nations and their religions, for the pictorial Zodiac is a symbolical presentation of our past, present and future development.

Leviathan / Egg Man / Zodiac Man

"Zodiac comes from a Greek word meaning "the circle of animals" or a "circle of lives".

Man has passed through many changes of form since the beginning of involution into matter. In his physical body are preserved the forms he has passed through. In the beginning the form of man was spherical, as in the first round ... The spherical form is represented by the head. The head of the man contains the idea and images of all the forms and organs which are developed into functional activity in the entire body. The head is characteristic of the sign of Aries, absolute consciousness, which, although distinct in itself, includes all there is and all there will be in the body.

In the second and third races of our fourth round the body of man changed from a form like that of a crystal sphere and becoming elongated presented the appearance of a transparent, opalescent, oval or egg-like form, in which there appeared an elongated loop something like the filament within an incandescent lightbulb. Around this loop matter condenses and solidified into what later became our physical body. These were the bodies of double sexed beings. ... This loop was a double spinal column, but as the race became physical one side of the loop was dominated by the other, and finally became inactive as a spine, but remained as the digestive tract and organs connected therewith.

In those early times, double-sexed humanity did not live on food as does present mankind: their food was taken in through the breath and from the electrical forces of nature. These early beings, though physical, were able to move through the air without walking. They generated through the double spine an electrical energy, which enabled them to move and perform other operations in the world, such as control of the material bodies and the forces of nature. To get an idea of the nature and form of this loop, we may imagine two human forms standing face to face as one form: then the spinal columns would be like the loop referred to. ... Man gradually assumed his present form and became a being of the now existing two sexes.

Figure 31 - The signs of the zodiac were then, and are now, correspond to him, a phase which is given in some of the almanacs. The full figure man showing his relationship in the parts of the body. The signs from Aries to Libra are related to the foreparts of the body from head to sex, and from Libra to Pisces the lower signs are related to his thighs, knees, legs and feet. Those signs which have a divine use are now lowered to the locomotory use of man, and to his functional activity on the earth: but when functions are raised these are the divine signs which make a complete whole of the broken circle, which is indicated by the spinal column.

Thinking & Destiny

But man still possesses the circular zodiac within his body, that is the occult (hidden) zodiac to be followed by one who desires to attain immortality."
The Zodiac - Harold Percival 1906 pg 91

"In the very ancient times the first bodies were such as air and water, for these responded most easily to the pulses of the creating will. When the vehicles or bodies built up first from the more subtle parts of the physical globe reached a certain degree of development, the spirits dwelling in the ether above, and called in the Bible the “Sons of God,” flowed downward and into the new bodies, which are called the daughters of men;” or more correctly the daughters of MANAS or mind, the mind formed bodies, for the word man literally means mind."

Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

"While dwelling in the Paradisiacal state the entities which we now know as men were androgynous, as is explicitly stated, “they were created male and female.”

I am the Eggman

Gen_1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

"In the old Cabala they are described as having been formed back to back, a male and female organism. More correctly it is to be inferred that they possessed inwardly the potentialities of both positive and negative powers. The Edenic Garden contained not only the rudiments of human existence but also the other kingdoms which were to manifest. It was therefore a sort of superior earth in which forms of life developed and prepared themselves for physical incarnation, even as the wise in this world are building superphysical bodies in which to function when the race has finished its physical evolution.

The name given to the order of life which was to incarnate as human was ADAM, which means species, type, or kind. Never for a moment does it infer a single individual. Adam, therefore, correctly means a mode of consciousness, a type with mind, as distinguished from the animal and vegetable kingdoms which do not possess individualized intelligence, and therefore are properly termed species. These lower kingdoms have a center of consciousness called a monad, whereas man has evolved his monad into an ego or a center of “I am-ness.”

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:

"In Genesis 1: 28 the Law (God) said to Adam: “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.” This is exactly the same thought expressed in the ancient Confucian metaphysics: All creation is a replenishment in space, a new manifestation of eternally existing principles. If we realize that the signs of the Zodiac are the Patriarchs, even as later they are the prophets and the Apostles, we shall perceive that creation so-called is the movement of the Ego, or consciousness, whether microcosmic or macrocosmic, through the twelve signs or parts of the SOULar year. This SOULar year is the Manvantara of the Hindus, the Day of Brahma, the flowing of the Great Breath. This Breath is also mentioned in Genesis 2: 7 where the Law (Lord) breathed into the nostrils of Adam the breath of life.

Self-God & The Zodiac (HPB & Judge)

"The chief features of one's life are always in accordance with the Constellation under which one is born; that is, in accord with the character of its animating principle, the deity presiding over the Constellation -- whether we call it Archangel or Dhyan Chohan. The units of humanity all proceed from the same source, the central SUN and its shadow, the visible sun. Every effort of the will to purify and unite with the "Self-God" breaks one of the lower rays; the spiritual entity of man is drawn ever higher, from ray to ray, until he is again reabsorbed into the one and highest beam of the Parent-Sun. The latter is the true center of every man, as of Cosmos; each can receive influence from that center, as "each man is or is to be connected with some particular one of these Adepts." Our destiny is written in the stars. There is a true present day Astrology recoverable by those members of the Theosophical Movement who fulfill the moral requirements to repossess the 'Great Mystery.'

"The Zodiac is the type of the Great Law." Twelve Great Gods, as in Egypt, or twelve Orders of Being as in the Himalayan teaching, manifest the complete turning of the great Wheel of Life and the Law, embracing all the subjective and objective planes and all the states. "The Law of Consequence also works in harmony with the stars, so that a man is born at the time when the positions of the bodies in the solar system will give the conditions necessary to his experience and advancement in the school of life. That is why Astrology is an absolutely true science, though even the best astrologer may misinterpret it, because, like all other human beings, he is fallible. The stars show accurately the time in a man's life when the debt which the Lords of Destiny have selected for payment is due, and to evade it is beyond the power of man. Yes, they show the very day, although we are not always able to read them correctly.

The stars may therefore be called the “Clock of Destiny.” The twelve signs of the Zodiac correspond to the dial; the Sun and the planets to the hour hand, which indicates the year; and the Moon to the minute hand, indicating the month of the year when the different items in the score of ripe fate allotted to each life are due to work themselves out.

It cannot be sufficiently emphasized, however, that though there are some things that cannot be escaped, man has a certain scope of free will in modifying causes already set going. A poet puts it thus:

One ship sails east and another sails west
With the self-same winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sail and not the gale
Which determines the way they go.
As the winds of the sea are the ways of fate
As we voyage along through life,
'Tis the act of the soul that determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.
The great point to grasp is that our present actions
determine future conditions."
Max Heindel - Rosicrucian Cosmic Conception Pg 172-173

"It is fitting that of all beasts a Ram should be placed at the head of the heavenly flock forming the zodiacal band. Centuries before the Christian Era, the pagans revered this constellation. Godfrey Higgins states: "This constellation was called the 'Lamb of God.' He was also called the 'Savior,' and was said to save mankind from their sins. He was always honored with the appellation of 'Dominus' or 'Lord.' He was called the 'Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world.' The devotees addressing him in their litany, constantly repeated the words, 'O Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world, have mercy upon us. Grant us Thy peace."' Therefore, the Lamb of God is a title given to the sun, who is said to be reborn every year in the Northern Hemisphere in the sign of the Ram, although, due to the existing discrepancy between the signs of the zodiac and the actual star groups, it actually rises in the sign of Pisces.

"The occultists of the ancient world had a most remarkable understanding of the principle of evolution. They recognized all life as being in various stages of becoming. They believed that grains of sand were in the process of becoming human in consciousness but not necessarily in form; that human creatures were in the process of becoming planets; that planets were in the process of becoming solar systems; and that solar systems were in the process of becoming cosmic chains; and so on ad infinitum. One of the stages between the solar system and the cosmic chain was called the zodiac; therefore they taught that at a certain time a solar system breaks up into a zodiac. The house of the zodiac become the thrones for twelve Celestial Hierarchies, or as certain of the ancients state, ten Divine Orders. Pythagoras taught that 10 (ten signs prior to the twelve we have now), or the unit of the decimal system, was the most perfect of all numbers, and he symbolized the number ten by the lesser tetractys, an arrangement of ten dots in the form of an upright triangle.

The ancients believed that the theory of man's being made in the image of God was to be understood literally. They maintained that the universe was a great organism not unlike the human body, and that every phase and function of the Universal Body had a correspondence in man. The most precious Key to Wisdom that the priests communicated to the new initiates was what they termed the law of analogy. Therefore, to the ancients, the study of the stars was a sacred science, for they saw in the movements of the celestial bodies the ever-present activity of the Infinite Father.

The Pythagoreans were often undeservedly criticized for promulgating the so-called doctrine of metempsychosis, or the transmigration of souls. This concept as circulated among the uninitiated was merely a blind, however, to conceal a sacred truth. Greek mystics believed that the spiritual nature of man descended into material existence from the Milky Way--the seed ground of souls--through one of the twelve gates of the great zodiacal band. The spiritual nature was therefore said to incarnate in the form of the symbolic creature created by Magian star gazers to represent the various zodiacal constellations.

The pagans believed that the zodiac formed the body of the Grand Man of the Universe. This body, which they called the Macrocosm (the Great World), was divided into twelve major parts, one of which was under the control of the celestial powers reposing in each of the zodiacal constellations. Believing that the entire universal system was epitomized in man's body, which they called the Microcosm (the Little World), they evolved that now familiar figure of "the cut-up man in the almanac" by allotting a sign of the zodiac to each of twelve major parts of the human body.

If the spirit incarnated through the sign of Aries, it was said to be born in the body of a ram; if in Taurus, in the body of the celestial bull. All human beings were thus symbolized by twelve mysterious creatures through the natures of which they were able to incarnate into the material world. The theory of transmigration was not applicable to the visible material body of man, but rather to the invisible immaterial spirit wandering along the pathway of the stars and sequentially assuming in the course of evolution the forms of the sacred zodiacal animals."

Zodiac / Pyramids / Humans

If you know that the zodiac is contained within you, then you may also know about the relationship between Leo (Sphinx) and Aquarius, the relationship between each pyramid in the world and its star and you may also know the answer lies within (know thyself) but that same answer is also in the stars, because that is also knowing thyself, for there is nothing new under the sun ... we are only re-discovering that which is already known. If the Giza pyramid represents the mind and her correspondence is to Orion, and per chance, the Sphinx represents the beginning of two journeys, one of the animal man, and the second of the god man, what do all the other pyramids in the world represent along that journey? Knowing the world was of One mind? This is something no one has yet put forward. My guess is they are all related to man and his journey through the zodiac and placed at different locations according to the zodiac of the human body. If they represent a location in the stars they must also represent a location in the human body.

The Mayans

"The Mayan calendar shares many of its messages with other spiritual traditions: “We are all One,” “Life has a purpose,” and “God is Love.” Yet it should not be overlooked that it also conveys a unique message: There is a deadline for the creation of the enlightened golden age at “the end of time,” and we all need to participate as co-creators in that process. This is the crucial message of the Mayan calendar that needs to be assimilated today. Many distortions and misunderstandings, as well as a common skepticism toward prophecy in general, have, at least until now, blocked many from fully recognizing the divine time plan.

Personality Traits of People Born on Certain Days

Mayan astrology offers a perspective of human existence not found anywhere. A person is said to have a certain destiny and personality traits shaped by day sign under which they are born. The Maya information compiled here is from various sources, but exclusively from the highlands of Guatemala (Tedlock 1982, Guoron Ajquijay 2003, Patal, personal communication 2006, Stanzione 2006.)

While the day names bear the characteristics, the number coefficient in front of any given day indicates whether an individual has weak, balanced, or strong amounts of those traits. 1-3 are weak, 5-7 are balanced and 9-13 are strong, sometimes extreme manifestations of the given day name. Thus, a person born on 2 Imix would show weak manifestations of Imix character, a 13 Imix has Imix traits in their most intense forms.

"What is necessary to know about astrology is that the celestial equator, which is known as the crown, consists of planets. It is also necessary to know that these planets are grouped into twelve signs, which have certain implications on all beings in this world and that the seven planets have certain fortunes acquired from the signs according to their particular direction and situation."

Incorrect Dates Below -Since we have gradually moved into the sign of Aquarius, our astrological signs should have had their dates changed gradually to match the stars in the sky at present, not 2000 years in the past. So if you are born Dec 30, you are born under the sign of Sagitarius.

Zodiac Signs

What Is Your Astrological Sign? Really?

"One of the reasons the astrologers and the astronomers have some difficulty communicating with each other is as follows. On the first day of spring, the astrologers start professing “The Sun is in Aries!” “The Sun is in Aries!” The astronomers shake their heads in disbelief, as they know the Vernal-Equinox sun has been traveling through the constellation of Pisces, the Fish, for the last two thousand years.

At this time in the Platonic year, the Spring-Equinox sun is dawning into Aquarius, and it will be traversing through that constellation for the next 2,150 years. Strange as it may seem, many of us are still telling everyone born on March 21 that they are an Aries. All of our birth signs are off by one constellation because of the precession of the equinoxes. For example, when my father looked out into the heavens while I was being born on May 17, 1942, the sun was near

the end of Aries and expected to arrive at Taurus around May 21, 1942. Anyone who looks into the heavens, rather than a book or a newspaper, to determine my birth sign will perceive that I am really not a Taurus. Around the year 150 B.C., all of the constellations of the Zodiac and our birthday-sun signs coincided. Through unintentional neglect, the positions of our sun, moon, and planets on our astrological charts, maps, and globes have been allowed to slip out of touch with our present-day astronomical reality.

Born Under A Bad Sign

When we read an astrological calendar, it may tell us the moon is in Taurus, the Bull, tonight. When we look at the stars, however, we find the moon more than a constellation away from the horns of Taurus (which resemble a large “V” between Orion's Belt and the Pleiades).

Why should I be calling myself a Taurus if the sun was really in Aries the day I was born? It appears that teaching the population something that isn't true is much easier than going through the complex task of updating our antiquated systems. Only sidereal or Vedic astrologers come close to placing the celestial bodies in their true positions on astrological charts."

Burgoyne is in agreement

"This single fact, i.e., the gradual shifting of the constellations, the DISPLACEMENT, let us say, of the starry influx from one sign to another without any ALLOWANCE being made in the astrologer's rules for any such change, has been one of the greatest obstructions to the popular spread of the art among EDUCATED MINDS. Argues the scientist: The "fiery influence of Aries," if depending upon the stars of that constellation, ought now to be shedding forth their caloric from the sign Pisces, and Aries ought to be lumbering along with the earthy Taurine nature. So, also, the lords of these signs ought to be changed, but that they are not can be proved by the fact that our earliest records of that dim, historic past show, equally as well as your latest "text-book," that Mars is the lord of Aries—a fiery planet in a fiery sign; but astrologers still say that Pisces is watery and Aries fiery, WHICH IS NOT THE CASE, IF THE STARS HAVE ANY INFLUENCE AT ALL."

However ... (tropical)

"Claudius Ptolemy, who wrote the Tetrabiblos, or Four Books of the Stars, said: "The beginning of the whole zodiacal circle (which in its nature as a circle can have no other beginning or end, capable of being determined) is, therefore, assumed to be the sign of Aries, which commences at the vernal equinox." Thus, the " precession of the equinoxes" cannot affect astrology. Ptolemy considered the virtues of the constellations of the zodiac distinctly from those of the spaces they occupied. He expressly and repeatedly declared that the point of the vernal equinox is the beginning of the zodiac, and that the thirty degrees immediately following it ever retain the same virtue as that which he attributed to Aries, although the stars forming Aries may have left those degrees. It was an accepted belief for ages that the world was created at the vernal equinox."
Alfred John Pearce. The science of the stars (Kindle Locations 219-224).

So there are two camps, I agree with the first camp identified as sidreal astrology while the other camp is titled tropical astrology.

On Sidereal Astrology

"This manipulation and bastardization of the true astrological artscience into tropical astrology also affirmed that people had a finite life at the end of which they would either be saved or punished depending if they followed the dictums of the controlling political-religious factions, thus squelching any desire for individuals to spiritually aspire and awaken to the greater truth that they were durative, continually evolving souls; parts of, not separate from a greater unified intelligence. The true and greater art-sciences including astronomical astrology ...

It is interesting to note that many of the religions of the world, as well as the perpetuation of "tropical astrology" are based on the confused mentalities common to the early first millennia. It is also interesting to consider that the perpetual use of tropical astrology today is an energetic that perpetuates a chasm in time that continues to widen at the rate of Earth's precession, one keeping the masses drifting in time-confusion rather than living in the present and truth that the true sidereal zodiak reveals."

Born April 12, I now consider myself a Pisces rather than an Aries. According to Kenneth Bowser, An Introduction to Sidreal Astrology. 62 years ago it may have been 1 day previous (72 years per degree) so the sun would have entered Aries on April 13 or 14, and 1954 not being a leap year, the result likely April 13 without regard to timezones.

Currently

  • The sun enters Aries on April 14 or 15 (all signs depending on leap year and time zone).
  • The sun enters Taurus on May 15 or 16.
  • The sun enters Gemini on June 15 or 16.
  • The sun enters Cancer on July 17 or 18.
  • The sun enters Leo on August 17 or 18.
  • The sun enters Virgo on September 17 or 18.
  • The sun enters Libra on October 17 or 18.
  • The sun enters Scorpio on November 16 or 17.
  • The sun enters Sagittarius on December 16 or 17.
  • The sun enters Capricorn on January 14 or 15.
  • The sun enters Aquarius on February 13 or 14.
  • The sun enters Pisces on March 15 or 16.

XII. Pisces "Near their loved waves cold Pisces take their seat, With Aries join, and make the round complete."

Once more a reaction—the last scene of the soul's impersonal drama. The constellation of Pisces is the symbol of rest and expectation. The soul has now completed the first round, or rung, in the Cycle of Necessity; and its next state is that of incarnated man. It has triumphed over every sphere below, and defied, in turn, every power above, and is now within that sixth state of the embryonic soul-world that transforms all its past knowledge, sorrow, and suffering, into experience; and produces the impersonal man.

It has traveled through constellated states within matter and spirit, and, as a human soul, with reason, intuition, and responsibility, it will, in its next state, become subject to those same powers when reflected from a different plane.

The twelve constellations of its soul will manifest a complete rapport with the twelve signs of solar light and power. With this we close. The mystic sign of this constellation is {}, or completion, a seal and a sign of its past labors. And, as we have seen, the shining constellations are the soul's progressive history from its genesis, to its appearance within embodied conditions as man; and so, by correspondence, are the twelve solar signs symbols of man and his material destiny. The foundation has been laid, the material and resources are at hand, for his kingdom is exclusive.

With his own hands he must build his temple (the symbol of the perfected man), each stone accurately measured, cut, polished, and in its proper place, the proportions symmetrical, hence, harmonious; the keystone of whose arch is WILL, its foundation love.

This accomplished, he will have completed the second round (mystery of 4 & 20) of the great Cycle of Necessity.
